3 rings/No ringmaster!
Mar. 15th, 2006 03:56 pmThings have been a little nuts here today... I have one client that has wanted everything updated on the 15th of the month - today we proved that that was just not practical. Starting next month we'll stager but today was upagainstthewallmotherfucker.
Meanwhile Challenging Guy decided that it would be a good day for him to call me with some very meaningless information. I had told him since he did not get his content in on time, his would would need to be put off until tomorrow. In his head this translates to: well, since you aren't busy with my web pages, you probably have time to listen to me drivel on the phone!
For a while there this morning, every time I got on my land line, Polly would call on the cellphone. There was really no news but I sure understand her need to share even the no-news with me. Mom is really important to her and way more than just her regular clients. And I suspect she is just also exhausted after last night.
So whenever she called, I put everyone else on hold. This backed up things pretty well. And then in the middle of it, the condo building manager came by with the head contractor to make a list of everything that needs to be done to my wall and ceiling and terrace to make it back the way it was. He (the contractor guy) was very nice and very thorough and really kind of sympathetic. He got my paint color info and promised the fix would be soon.
And meanwhile I got in bits of work here and there...
The last words from Polly about Mom were that she was still in the emergency room waiting for an ICU bed but she was in a special section of the emergency room where she was getting special treatment and she was sleeping which was great. The doctor who saw her and arranged for her admittance suggested in front of her that he'd like to keep her for 5 or 6 days. She, apparently, negotiated him down to 2.
Polly also said she was alert and focused and awake enough to take an active role in the conversation about DNR and life saving measures. She said the doctor spelled out in great detail what would happen under various scenarios and Mom said 'no thank you' to all of it.
So that's kind of where we are. It's now evening there. I expect Polly to call me with a final report of the day about any time.
I guess I'll go fix one of the bugs from Challenging Guy - he's got two assigned to me. Maybe one will make him feel the love. ugh.
