susandennisIt appears, from reading Mom's email :), that my sister is actually leaving there early Thursday morning. Finally. I got a quick note from my brother that they were at the airport shipping out. He said he'd send details when he got to a real (not Treo) keyboard.
I learned that the trust department - those fabulous folks who have handled all Mom's bill paying and tax stuff and a bunch of other things with such great service, can also handle the estate settling as an agent of me! They do it on a flat fee basis as opposed to hourly. I'm waiting now for a call from Torry - the one who's taken such good care of Mom all these years. I want to make sure that Torry would be my contact and that we can arrange it so I do not have to actually go to South Carolina. But, I'm already feeling good about having options. Whew.
So I met my friend, Elisabeth for coffee this morning. We discovered, in going over the Mom saga, that she knows some of Mom's relatives! Mom was raised in Dallas with a couple of cousins - Johnnie and David (both of whom are still alive and living in Dallas - Mom was especially closed to David and talked to him every couple of weeks). Elisabeth is from Dallas. And it turns out was forced, one time by her mother, to go to a high school party which the scuzzy son of Johnnie.
This is all funny and full o' coinkidinkieness BUT the best part is that Elisabeth still has friends there who are in the know. About 5 years ago or maybe 7ish, there was some kind of repressed memory scandal involving one of the sisters of the scuzzy son of Johnnie. Mom never got the skippy but it was ugly. So, now Elizabeth is going to troll around her friends - all of whom know these people - and get the details!!! I love it!
And that's what I know so far today... Work is kind light but I'm ok with that right now. I suspect that Challenging Client is going to chime in later today and I need to save up some patience.
