For the clouds. This morning was supposed to be a fryer and, instead, we have wonderful beautiful heavenly clouds. This will make the whole day cooler than threatened. I am unimaginably grateful.

I have a short list today which is nice...
1. add my latest read to my book page
2. quick trip to the library to pick up the next one
3. a bit of sewing/mending
4. laundry (betty's been begging for more)

That's really it. I have a quick bit of work that needs to be done but it will only take about an inning of today's game to polish that off. More may come in from my one client who sometimes checks in on weekends but even she probably won't have much until Monday.

This feels like the first time in a long time that I've looked down the nose of a free weekend. Cool.

I remember hot Summer nights in North Carolina - after dinner we'd go outside and gather up our friends and play a game called Kick the Can. I remember it was always with a large can (probably the equivalent of today's 2 liter bottle) that had held Welchade grape drink. One person would kick the can and everyone would scatter and I have no idea what happened after that. But we played it a lot...

We had lots of kids in the neighborhood - Babsie lived 2 doors down and Ted lived 2 doors down the other way and Stephen was next door. They were all my age. Carol and Lou lived across the street and Ellen lived across the other one (we lived on a corner). And then there was my brother and my sister. And various hangersoners. So we had a fairly good crowd available at all times.

Anyone else ever play Kick the Can? What happened after you kicked?

I finally looked it up... Man, this sounds complicated!!
