Still grateful
Jul. 25th, 2006 03:40 pmThe sun kind of came out but it isn't that I'm Going To Fry Your Ass In 30 Seconds Sun, it's more like Would You Like A Little Light On That? sun. Gentle with a nice breeze. God is so telling us 'see, that will teach you to take the wonderful weather I give you nearly 50 weeks out of every single year foregranted. Won't do that again, now, will ya??
Seriously. I even went outside! I got a coupon for a free drink at Tully's. It was a fun coupon - any drink in the shop I wanted... for free. I went over in the middle of the afternoon so I wouldn't be rushed and got a giant sized iced coffee drink with chocolate in it and whipped cream on top. It was wonderful. Plus the fun guy there gave me a coupon for 50% next time! I told him that it will guarantee that he gets to see me again. He was cute enough to pretend that was a good thing.
It was perfectly wonderfully pleasant out. Whew.
I have not had a lot of work to do today but a little here and there. Enough to keep me interested. I already have enough hours in the 'bank' this pay period to cover the bills so from now until the end of the month is just gravy. I love this job.
In celebration of the comfortable weather, I cleaned out a closet. I have three closets in the bedroom. Two have mainly clothes and one has 'other' on shelves. I keep a fairly large center section of the shelves for junk. Stuff that needs to be put away in a hurry or I just don't want to fuck with right now or something. Then, every 3 months or so, I pull it out and put it away properly or toss it. It's a good system. It allows me to be messy but you can't see it and it doesn't take over.
Today it is all clear again and ready for three more months of stuff.
But, I found a treasure... A small box of keeps from the early 80's. Mainly it was work stuff. One vacation thing and this... today's

Then envelope is franked and post marked Arpril 1982. The letter is US Senate stationary and addressed to me a work:

Dear Susan:
I'm glad we had the chance to meet at the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce last Friday. I deeply appreciate the time you and other Charlotte business leaders took from your busy schedule to come to the Chamber.
I plan to return to Charlotte in the coming months. I look forward to continuing our discussion of economy and the military and other areas of mutual concern at that time.
Sincerely, Gary Hart
