susandennisSo... I got my new license plates the other day and they have been sitting by the front door since. It was too hot to do anything with them before but today I realized my runway was getting a bit short and if I didn't watch myself, I would put the task off until I was smack dab in Fine City.
I grabbed some screwdrivers - phillips and flat and a flashlight and headed down to the garage.
Just near the car is a storage area and I have a bin there - it's about 3 feet by 10 feet by about 10 feet tall. A nice size. In the early days, I used it a lot but I started having trouble breathing when I was down there. All I could do was cough. I thought maybe after I quit smoking it would get better but it never does. So I cleared most everything out and now only use it for emergency stuff and stuff I never need to get to. I try to remember to wear a painters mask when I go down there and it has all been fine.
I never noticed it in the car area before... today. Of course the damn plates wouldn't come off. The dealership people put the plates on in 1999 and they haven't been touched since. So I struggled and finally got it off, but then couldn't get the new one back on and kept coughing and coughing and coughing. Fortunately, I had a bottle of water in the car so I grabbed it and drove the car up onto the street. And finished the job.
What kind of fuckwad outfit uses one kind of screwdriver for the front plate and a different kind for the back????
Anyway, deed is done. And I'm back where the air is better. I told the building manager about the bad air down there but he said no one had ever complained outside of me and he had no trouble breathing. (Of course, his being 30 and never having smoked anything in his life wouldn't have anything to do with it, I'm sure.)
