My terrace overlooks the open air parking lot Qwest Field - home of the Seattle Seahawks National League Football team. Most of the year, it is an interesting view. In the summertime, I have trees that block some of the view (offer no shade, mind you, just block the view - fuckers). (Hopefully, those trees will be gone maybe even by next summer.)

When I first moved here, the Kingdome sat where Qwest Field is today. They blew that up and built the new and I had a front row seat. I did a big web chronicle of it which was great fun.

Now they are talking about taking half the parking lot and building out condos and retail space. I hope they do but until then, we shall not lack for excitement.

This Saturday is the annual Seattle Torch Light parade. This is a major BFD (redundancy intended) around here. In the days of the Kingdome, (which was also before the fucking trees blocked my view) the parade would come right through the parking lot and wind around the Kingdome and end on the other side. It was like having a front row seat with a full fridge and a clean bathroom no waiting.

But, once they built Qwest Field, they screwed up the end of the parade and had it terminating all over everywhere. But a note in our elevator says that this year they are going to end the parade in our parking lot. More fun stuff to see. Now if they could get these damn trees down before day after tomorrow....

After that... the excitement mounts...

On August 9, the field will host Bend it Like Beckum and That other cool soccer dude in a match between DC United and Real Madrid. Tickets went on sale yesterday and the lines were long at the ticket window. Why don't people buy them online? Anyway, the fun there will be watching the crowds and hearing the noise. Goooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaal.

But, wait, there's more!

My living room is going to be rocking to the oldies... yep, The Rolling Stones (how much older can you get and still be alive???) are doing a concert in the stadium on October 17. And, hopefully, all the leaves will be gone so I can really do some serious crowd watching.

When my brother was little I used to read him a book called "Nothing Every Happens On My Block". It was a great story but the lesson really stuck with me - there's action everywhere, you just have to see it. In my neighborhood, heck, you hardly need to even make an effort!
