I just watched a show I've never heard of before - American Eats. It's on the history channel. I watched the history of soda pop and it was fascinating. (I did not know that Andrew Weyth's older brother invented the process that is now used to make the plastic soda pop bottles used today.) Really. Next up: ice cream. Can't wait. I love TV in 2006. Beats the hell out of the 3 networks of yesteryear.

The first year of Project Runway, I kind of watched at it a little. The second year I recorded it and fast forwarded through lots of it. This year I am totally and profoundly hooked and into it. The stuff they are doing - at least so far - is way better than the other two years.

I'm trying out an online backup service. I've looked into several over the years and tried various home grown online backup schemes but this one seems to have more potential than most. I'm giving it a trial run on my work machine. Anyone ever tried http://www.carbonite.com? So far so good, except... I have a question and sent an email through their software and, it appears, their customer service is not 24/7. I'm not sure I'm happy about that in a backup service. We'll see.

And I even have some Memory Lane quickies...

I was 22 when abortions became legal in the United States.
I was 21 when I had my first abortion.
I was 21 before I could vote or buy liquor.
I was 18 when I was allowed to drink coffee at home.
I was 18 before I allowed to buy beer.
I was 14 when I was allowed to smoke cigarettes at home.
I was 12 when I smoked my first cigarette.

Oh and when I was 22, Mom asked me and my sister if we knew where she and Daddy could get a joint. We did. We fixed 'em up. They tried it and were not impressed.
