If someone were to peer into my brain, I'm pretty sure they'd see some really old hardware with a yellow stickie notes. And the floor would be littered with notes that have lost their stickie. I make about 473 mental notes a day. About 3 of those get remembered and acted on. That's not such a good average. But, maybe I should be grateful for those 3.

[livejournal.com profile] nkcmike did a virtual pickup this morning of one of those stickies that fell. It's a book I heard about on NPR. Who Are You People?: A Personal Journey into the Heart of Fanatical Passion in America by Shari Caudron. It sounded so interesting. Amazingly, my library does not have it!! Neither does the King County Library or the U of Washington library It's a trade paperback so that's probably why. But, still. How dare they not have it. Maybe I'll buy a copy, read it and then send it on to [livejournal.com profile] nkcmike!

And, speaking of NPR, last Saturday, one of my favorite shows Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me, did a greatest hits. One of their greatest hits was Ken Jennings. He has a great entry about the whole experience of being on the show on his website.. Kind of the inside skippy. Very cool. The library has his book in their catalog and it's not even out yet! He does now live in Seattle but that's no excuse.

My doctor's office just called to confirm tomorrow's appointment except the woman calling (who, I'm pretty sure is the one who made the appointment) said that my appointment got made with the doctor who share's my doctor's suite. Nice. And... my doctor is out sick today (she was out sick the last time, too. wonder what that's about). And has no openings until September.

After putting me on hold about 3 times, the appointment person finally came back with:

Appt. Person: Would September be ok with you?
Me: Fine by me. I 'm not the one who wanted the appointment.
Appt. Person: Well, would you be interested in seeing the other doctor?
Me: I'm not interested in seeing any doctor, it's Dr. Jeannette who wanted to see me.
Appt. Person: Oh well, you already have an appointment in September.
Me: Yep.
Appt. Person: Oh gosh.

The brightest bulb in that string need not worry about any competition there...

After a few more times on hold she finally came up with 11:20 tomorrow. I fully expect her to call tomorrow morning and tell me the doctor is out sick again and the appointment is off.

I feel my blood pressure going down as I type.

Lunch today with my friend, Patty at a place in Pike Place Market. It's kind of a cloudy morning and if it stays that way, I'll probably walk. If the sun comes out, it's the bus for me!
