We may have a new Friday Night Tradition
Sep. 1st, 2006 06:12 pmSo I finally did it. I called the brewpub next door. Turns out the waiter guy from opening night gave me a bum number but they now have the number on their website so I called. I told the woman who answered the phone that I lived next door and I wanted to order a steak salad to go. She transferred me over to the bar and obviously prepped the bartender cause he was ready for me. He asked me how I wanted my steak and I told her really really really rare. (You need 3 reallys to get medium rare in this town.)
Here's what the menu says:
Steak Salad
Gathered greens, hearts of romaine, grilled marinated sirloin steak, beefsteak tomatoes, caramelized sweet onions, balsamic vinaigrette topped with Rogue River Blue cheese. $15.

He told me 10 minutes and I went in 8 and it was waiting for me. With tax it came to $16.41. I gave him a $20 and took $2 of the change and headed home.
It was wonderful! The steak was actually rare and there was LOTS of it. The tomatoes were no more beefsteak than I am BUT there were only a few pitiful slivers. The chef can't help it if Northwest tomatoes suck. I appreciate that he did not try to pretend they were worthwhile. There were also a few candied walnuts sprinkled on the salad. And there was plenty. I ate every last bit and it was just exactly the right amount.
Oh yeah, this is good.
