My missing day

susandennisSo... after spending the morning listening to robotic telemarketing calls, I spent the afternoon in my boss's office in a pretty boring meeting. He's a great guy but not at all pithy.
Then a wreck in a tunnel turned my 15 minute trip home into a 45 minute crawl through downtown Seattle.
And... I have a meeting in Redmond on Monday from 3:30 to 4:30. I'll crawl home then, too and get to join thongs of people coming to the Seahawks came on Monday night. ARUGH.

rev_hank says I need an alternate userpic to use when I'm bitching about stuff. She gets jumbled when I rant and rave and then she has to stare into my photoshop smile. Good point. I'll work on it.

Here's a smiley thing. My brother. His business coaching guy convinced him to close the store (http://www.friendlycomputers.com/georgetown/) on Saturdays and take two days off each week. He always used Saturdays as his day to send me a weekly update of what was happening. He sometimes sends mid-week notes but since Mom died, he has not let a Saturday got by without a friendly, chatty, funny, nice, sweet, long and detailed note. At first I thought it was a passing fancy but nope. He's stuck with it and I love it.
He works so hard to find common ground between us which is not exactly a slam dunk. We do like to read many of the same books and we share an interest in computers and a family history but that's really about it. I haven't even seen him in about 8 years. I have no idea why he's expending the energy to reach out to me. He's never ever asked for a single thing in return. Not even an email reply (although he always gets at least one).
He and his wife are living in temporary quarters until their new house is done and he does not have internet access there so I figured his weekly notes would end with the shop's weekend closures. Nope. He's moved 'em to Friday afternoons! I'm so tickled. And grateful and smiling about that.
