I'm on hold with American Express and have been for about 20 minutes. Their hold agenda includes:
10 seconds of annoying music
20 seconds of an annoying guy with the same message about how I can get their services online
10 seconds of an advertisement of their card services
20 seconds of a list of fraud tips
and then the information that their customer service reps are busy but my call is really important to them.
lather, rinse, repeat - over and over and over and over and fucking over again.
Getting to this point was fairly painful. I had to enter my card number, enter the year of my birth, enter the last 4 digits of my social security number, enter 4 more digits off the card, enter the number of LJ comments I got last month - well, ok, maybe not that last bit.... but it was not a routine that I want to do again.
I'm sure this is one of the busiest days they have and it was the smartest time to call. I'll give 'em 15 more mins and then, I'll go the online route.
A couple of weeks ago a $7.98 charge from Paypal showed up on the card. I do not have this card linked to my Paypal card so I just went online and filed a report. Today, the new Paypal charge is for $1,384.74 and one for $6.99.
Ooops just got a person who is great! She apologized for annoying guy before I even mentioned him. And she said she was surprised they didn't cancel my card after the $7.98 charge. But, now she has. Canceled it, that is and they are sending me a new one. I really only use it for Costco - so I can live without it for a few days.
I'm back on hold now but annoying guy has now been shoved aside for annoying woman interspersed with annoying music but not as loud or as annoying. Plus the woman who put me on hold told me it would be a wait and asked if that was ok plus has now come back twice to make sure I was ok with still waiting. This is ok.

There is, apparently, a fair amount of snow in the area. There is still not one single flake visible from here.

The Seahawks are playing here tonight at 5:30 and the RV's are beginning to line up in the parking lot.

And that is all I know for now. I think today is going to be slow work-wise. The people who send me stuff to do will probably spend most of today getting through their email and getting organized. I have two little mini launches this week - groups of pages that need to go live. Thursday is a group of about 50 pages and Friday is a group of about 12. Both are being driven by good managers and both are pretty nearly ready so it's just going to be days of little tweaks here and there. All billable.

Ok, Amex done. Now I need to call the insurance people about my contacts claim. I should wait on it, too, but what the heck. First pass got me "Premiere Psychic Services"... hmmm I think wrong number. Or... maybe not! Second try, gave the automated tree the info it wanted and boom, I got a person. I am on a roll now, baby.
* Thank you,
pheon!
