Brewstation!
Jan. 27th, 2007 04:07 pmOk, yeah, I shudda figured that since it was not cold and not raining that the entire freakin' world would be outside and most of it shopping... But, I was kind of surprised. Then I remembered when I got to BB&B that I hate that place and it makes me dizzy so I went to Target first. And scored.
It's not what I was after but I think it's going to work just fine and dandy. I wanted a 12 cup drip into stainless steel (no interior thermal glass) carafe. They had a couple that were tres ugly and a Mr. coffee that was not so ugly but has a reputation for being way not easy to use. So I figured it was off to BB&B and then... on an end cap... I spied... This beauty.
Hamilton Beach BrewStation. No carafe at all. The coffee stays in the coffee maker and you fill per cup. Why in the heck not? It's a little on the big size for the counter but I just made my first cup and it's going to work just fine, thank you. And, can I say that the instruction/manual writers at Hamilton Beach need to get a big thumbs up. I don't ever remember reading such clear, complete and comprehensive instructions on anything. And they even have a quick start guide. I'm happy.
I'm kind of thinking about Mom a lot these days. A year ago, we were getting the last of her. Most of my memories, even of the final months are such good ones. And one never fails to envelope me when I walk inside a Target store.
The last time I went to visit, she wanted to go to Target. So I picked a Sunday morning when the South was in church. Plus she was always better in the mornings. She got one of those scooter/baskets and we set out to discover the store. She had been in one before but it was a quick trip with my brother who was not at all interested in lingering. She wanted to linger.
We wandered around the store. "Oh isn't everything so pretty? And these aisles are so nice and wide." And on and on. We ended up filling up 2 and a half shopping carts with a little of this and a little of that. Should she get this? Should she get that? You can't take it with you, Mom. She had a ball. She spent about $400 on all kinds of stuff from a new bed spread to a package of make up removal pads.
It was a joyous Sunday morning and one of my best memories ever and I love that it's yet another excellent reason for my going to Target!
