Work is QUIET! So, I've filled my day with getting stuff done.

The kitchen is all reorganized and I didn't need anything that I couldn't find in the house.  I threw out a bunch of stuff and took a load of stuff down to the car to drop off at Goodwill.  The junk drawers are now utensil drawers.  I have one shelf for cereal.  One shelf for crackers and chips.  Two shelves for canned stuff.  The appliances that I rarely use (sandwich grill, quesadilla maker, electric egg cooker, hand mixer) are all lined up nicely on the top shelf and their former homes now have occupants that I use nearly every day.  The oven is no longer used for storage!!

Nice.  Very nice.

My dentist office has finally remembered me.  A year ago I went in the the cleaning from hell and they wanted me back in 4 months to do it again.  Four months later, I decided ... nah...  They never even called.   Last week I got a preprinted post card saying I should come in for a cleaning.   Yesterday they called my cellphone (I was on the land line and didn't answer - boy, was I happy that I hadn't!).

I suspect they will catch up with me one of these days and I'm just telling them flat out.  No thank you.

And... for the rest of my body...

My work is changing insurance. The old insurance ended 1/31 and the new kicked in Feb. 1.  BUT no cards yet.  No id numbers yet.  Nothing except the broker guy, who's name is Vern and he couldn't give you a straight answer if his life depended on it.  We keep getting these emails about the new plan that say if you need to see a doctor before you get your ID card, just have them call Vern to verify insurance.  Yeah, right.  That clerk who takes my co-pay money at the Polyclinic is really going to be interested in calling Vern.

It is clear that we are not going to get anything before my doctor's appointment next Thursday morning.  I don't want to put it off again cause my prescriptions are running out.  What to do.  I called Vern.  Bad idea.  He could double talk twins.  I finally just about hung up on him and called Arlene who is the bookkeeper and level head at my company.  The first thing Arlene said was that Vern just makes her NUTS!  She can't stand him!

Then when I told her my issue she said 'just give them your old card and pay the co pay'.  Then, when you get the card and ID a few days later, just call them and tell them you forgot and here's the new info.    A great plan.

I did have a conference call this afternoon and some work email that needed done.  So I feel pretty darned productive for a nice, slow day.
