Nice walk this morning. This is my kind of weather - low 40s, cloudy and just a little misty and no wind. I was thinking this morning that I need to really enjoy these walks because the weather is not going to stay this good and when I get a new job, I won't be getting as many walks. (But, on the up side, until I do get a new gig, I can walk every day!)

I popped in my last Sex and the City DVD - disc 2 of Season 5 and watched the first episode last night. I got all the way through to the punch line - the last 5 minutes of the episode and the friggin' DVD was scratched! I wiped it and washed it and tried but no go. GRRRR I wonder if all DVD players are like mine - very tricky to do an efficient fast forward or fast rewind or even much of any forward or rewind. I wonder if they make a DVD player that reacts more like TiVO in these functions or even a VCR player. I wonder. Anyway, back to Netflix with this one for a new copy. It's going to be a while before Season 6 comes out and Season 5 was short enough!

Tomorrow is my last Monday for a while. I need to start making lists. The first one starts off:

  • Apply for unemployment (I tried applying yesterday, but, alas, they don't want to talk future, you have to wait until you are actually unemployed - makes sense.)

  • Fix up a new version of the resume and a few portfolio sample web pages for the contracting agency recruiter who requested it (May actually do this at work this week)

  • Do taxes (I'm thinking H&R Block on line this year. I have not been real happy with Turbo Tax the last few years and I can do the whole thing plus file electronically for $12 through my credit union)

  • Make more jigsaw puzzles! I have lots of good pictures to use.

  • Make a house clean up plan

Have you seen on the IRS webpage that you can e-file for free? I don't know how good it is, but I think there is a demo so you can see it.

I've filed electronically on the federal IRS website for several years now. Easy and convenient. California's State filing is not free.

Don't laugh, but I play my DVD's from Netflix right on my PC. A DVD player software that came with my WindowsXP works great for me.

I do have a DVD player, just need to hook it up.

DVD drives are quite cheap (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=27-131-001&catalog=55&manufactory=BROWSE&depa=1) now...

You might want to try tax cut (http://www.taxcut.com/). It's less expensive than Turbo and it's put out by H&R Block. I used it last year and it was a breeze (and that's saying a lot coming from me!).

Ha ha ha...don't feel left out. I don't have cable, nor TiVo! But the DVD drive on my PC is handy.

If not for my Canadian friend, I'd be totally out of the loop. He's kind enough to share Queer Eye, Sex and the City and Trading Spaces with me from his PC to mine.
Nifty little tv software program we use thru Yahoo Messenger.

And another thing to like about WA..no state income tax!
