We rarely get thunderstorms here in Seattle. I mean I probably don't need both hands to count the number of times I have heard thunder in the 12 years I have lived here. But, when we do, it's hilarious. Today, apparently, we had some electrical stuff going on. The local NBC evening news anchor just announced:

"The lightening was so loud that some people apparently dived under desks when they heard it."

Those are some good ears on those folks!

One of my wife's major complaints about living in the Northwest --- one of her few --- is that there are so few thunderstorms. She grew up in Ohio and loves thunderstorms. She wants her thunder and lightning.

Our previous roof was galvanized metal and we could really hear the rain. Now that we have a new roof, we often don't even know it's raining. Not acceptable. Our current plan is to hang a pie plate outside under the eaves to catch the sound.

Media people who talk like that drive me crazy. They are supposed to know better, but most do not.
