waiting...

I have some web pages that need to go live at 9.  The publish is set to go off automatically and then it takes anywhere from 3 to 40 minutes to appear on the live site.  Starting about 9:05, I have to start clicking and refreshing until I see all of them live.  So now I'm killing time until 9:05.

It's still too warm in here but has cooled off from the sauna hot it was when I got in from my walk.  I think as ridiculous as it seems, I am going to have to pull out the air conditioner today.  The earliest ever.  Global warming can kiss my giant ass.

And I'm not the only one suffering.  Judy's flowers are taking a dive as well.  The only things not looking in need of an ICU are the pink carnations.  (Did I just hear every gay guy reading this groan?) Yes, pink carnations.  If the government can legislate my decision to wear seat belts how come it doesn't do something to eliminate carnations?  (I did hear on NPR today that New Hampshire - bless their souls - defeated a measure requiring adults to wear seatbelts yesterday.  At least there is one place left that respects my ability to make choices for myself.)

Jake has a new place.  I love how even at 18 years of age - (90 in people years) - he still discovers new things.  He used to love a spot under the desk in the front corner.  That place fell out of favor a year ago.  Then he loved my desk chair.  Then he gave that up.  In the last week or so I've noticed him missing only to see him crawl out from behind the desk chair.  Today I peeked behind the curtain and see that his new spot is a small space between where the backpack-on-wheels and the wall, under the back part of the desk.   It is litereally behind a curtain that hides the under-the-desk crap.  I hope it's cool back there.

Betty is an under cat.  In the living room when not on my lap, she's under the coffee table.  The rest of the time when there is no clean laundry for her to rest upon, she's in her stop under the bed.  At least she has the ceiling fan in there.

I was thinking this morning ... why don't I just buy a treadmill and set it up here?  Then I remembered that 1.  the only place I have for one is the fish room and I love that room just like it is.  but, more importantly, 2.  It is the hottest room in the place always but in Summer, it's horrible.  End of that idea.

My neighbors down the hall - on this side of the building (but with a view unobstructed by any stupid trees) - moved out and put their unit up for sale.  $555,000.  I hope they have an open house because from the pictues it appears as if they have done something very cool with their bedroom closets and I'd like to see what it is.  Also it looks like the original owner (1991) paid a lot more for it than I did for mine.  I think I paid something like $167,000 and this says that one went for $193,000.  It does have about 100 more square feet but because of the layout, it does not have that much more useable square feet and the kitchen is a tiny little alley kitchen.  Weird.

Ok work time.
