susandennisSo mere minutes after that last entry where I said I needed to quit spending???? TiVo sends me an offer I cannot refuse. They will let me transfer my lifetime (read no monthly fee + a giant discount on the monthly fees for my other TiVos) agreement to a new dual tuner box in exchange for some sheckles. I had already decided that if they ever made this offer, I'd grab it. My old TiVo is getting some years on it and I'm not interested in tempting fate here. So more spending but I'm ok with it.
NOW, I stop. I promise, I swear. Plus, I promised the nice lady at Discover.
A couple of times in the past when I've made large purchases on my Discover card, I've gotten a call from their fraud department. It's a good thing. Today was even better. I got an email! It came in just as I hit the 'Order' button on the TiVo. I thought, Ha! I know why the flag went up. I'll call her and tell her about the TiVo, too so she won't have to send out another email.
Well, I called - and with Discover fraud your wait time is exactly 0 seconds. She verified me nicely and then preceded to review tell me about my phone bill (which had coincidentally come in), a grocery charge, the Video Only charge and the TiVo charge!!! I told her that my enter key wasn't even cold yet from ordering that!! They are very on top of it.
Anyway, I promised her that was it. No more spending and she just laughed. But, seriously. No more spending. I'm done.
