Jul. 7th, 2007 07:20 amI woke up this morning when I got hot. I looked up and the ceiling fan wasn't on. When and why the fuck did I turn that off??? About the time I hit the button the remote and got nothing, I noticed the clocks weren't glowing and, in fact, nothing was glowing... There was no electricity!!!
The developers of these condos put it on two power grids but instead of putting half the units on one and half the units on the other, they put half of each unit on one and half of each unit on the other. And the halves vary. Sherry and Lee's front half is on the same grid as my back half. I'm sure there's a rhyme there. I just don't know it. I am just grateful once again that the developers saw fit to at least give me half a loaf.
My front half which includes the living room and three computers and the air conditioning and the TV and half the kitchen... has juice.
The back half - the fish room, my bedroom, both bathrooms... no juice.
The stove and toaster oven and fridge are dead. The coffee pot is on the live half. Nice.
2/3rds of the hallway outside my door is dark - on emergency power. The stairwells are pitch black. The elevators are dead. Several clues tell me it happened sometime around 5 a.m. It's now 7:30.
I would have liked a little more sleep and redoing all the clocks won't be fun. But it could be way worse. This is only mildly inconvenient. At 8, I'll take the flashlight and hit the stairwell and head for the gym. And hope that before I get back we have elevator. I don't like the idea of climbing up the stairs...
It's supposed to be cloudy this morning. The tv news guys promised me last night on 3 different channels. Those lying sacks of shit. The clouds seem to have gone the way of the electricity in the front half of my condo. So the days heat gets a jump start. Nice.
