LJ Hijack?

I deleted the comment but now I think I'm sorry I did. Last night I posted the entry of the photo of the cats who aren't bosom buddies sleeping together on my chair and then I went to bed.

This morning I found a comment - anonymously posted but 'signed' by Aaron - saying that he listened to Christian music and encouragement to go see that religious movie that Mel Gibson has out. The comment included a photo and links about the movie.

It felt stalk-y and I deleted it before I even thought about it. But now that I've had coffee, I probably should have left it as part of the archive. Oh well. For the record, I do have a good friend, Aaron, but he does not know any HTML and would never commit religious stalking.

And, also, for the record, these days when someone assaults me (online or off) about Christian anything, values or whatever, I do an immediate translation that says - that person is isolating one, comparatively small, group of people and proclaiming them as a superior group of people. And that is the start down a dangerous slippery slope.

Fitting way to start Sunday, eh?

I did not walk this morning... Yep. I didn't. But I plan to. There is a new cheese shop in Pike Place Market that I want to check out and it's raining so I that will keep the crowds down. Here in a bit, I'll wander down by the waterfront and then take the elevator up the hill to the street where the Market is. Then, from there, it is a gentle slope down to my house. How's that for a plan?

That's the infamous spam message that's been appearing around LJ for about two weeks now. Fear not. No one's singling you out!

I saw the cat post (it was cute) but didn't see the spam. I have however heard of several people having this happen in the last two weeks in their LJ's. It is irritating and scary. I haven't gotten it in my LJ but have had a bunch of Christian bull spammed to my work email. I can't figure out how I got on that list since I almost never give out my work email. What I get is all Christian Debt Counseling. I consider myself a Christian and it bugs the crap out of me. IMHO real Christians DON'T spam.

I have never received that particular post, but a while back I was starting to have a problem with spam LJ replies. The easy fix was I turned off anonymous posting. My general opinion has always been that if your opinion is not worth you putting your name on it then its not worth my time to read it, so I didn't really have any major issue with doing that. I had just never gotten around to it before.

I have a soft spot for evangelical people, it's a bog in Ireland. Whatever they say always seems to mean "oh if only you were as good as me. As a recovering Catholic I think some of the least christian people in the world are to be found inside churches.

I really liked the movie still the spammer included in his message. The bearded man had that earnest yet befuddled, moist-eyed expression I think of as The Wounded Deer. And he was staring at that torch as if he'd never seen fire before and was wondering if it would hurt him if he tried to touch it. It was so perfect I wouldn't want to see the movie and find out what was really going on.

Hello, found your LJ through another LJ-er and just wanted to drop a comment here -- Yesterday, I received the same comment TWICE on my post, one from "Aaron" and one from "Susan". Susan also complemented that I had an interesting journal. Funny thing is, they spammed me on my rant supporting gay marriage! That's how I knew they hadn't read my journal and it was probably some automated spammer! =) I'm enjoying reading you so far!
