I'm taking a lunch break so just chill
Aug. 8th, 2007 12:57 pmWhew. I should have gotten up at 5 but I was working until 10:30 last night and I just didn't feel like it so I didn't. So I have been behind all day. But, it's not going to let up soon so I'm taking a lunch break. I've just checked in on my LJ friends and now I'm returning the favor.

I checked the modem when I got up this morning and the internet light - dark for two days now - was RED!!!! So I rebooted it and BAM!! I'm in high speed business again!! hallefuckinglooyah!

I gathered up the Clearwire modem and stuffed it back into its box and slapped the UPS label they provided onto it and made a "PICK UP" sign and took it down to where the UPS guy leaves packages. All done. Thank you.

When I came back from the gym this morning I rode up in the elevator with three worker guys and a bunch of tools and stuff. I asked them what their task du jour was and they said they were off to install and air conditioner. I laughed and they did, too. This is about the 6th one they've installed in this building and clearly it was not their task of choice. I told them I had an a/c on wheels and all three of them loudly said 'now that's the way to do it!" These units aren't very central a/c friendly.

And, finally, before I go back to work, remember my ISP from whom I have wanted a divorce for so long? I've been with them for 9 years but they were told to another company about a year and a half ago and changed to the ISP from hell. Anyway. I had paid for the year. My year isn't even up until October. But, I got tired of fucking with them and that's what lead to this week's change. Since I had paid them in full, I saw no reason to contact them.
This morning I got a call from them saying they had received a disconnect notice. One of my major complaints was that the only way to talk to them was to leave a message and hope they called you back, which they rarely did. Now I know all you have to do is disconnect and they call you right away!!
Anyway the dude said I had to go to their website and fill out a form. I told him I'd send email so he'd have notice and he said I had to fill out the form and I said that I had paid my bill and I was done. And he said I had to fill out the form. And I said that since I had paid through October, I'd fill it out on Halloween. Then I sent a note to info@. I got the same 'you have to fill out this form' crap in immediate response. Again, interesting since they never responded to any emails to info@ before!! I replied back that I was no longer using their service and had paid my bill and saw no reason to fill out any form. I got another email saying that my billing would not be stopped until I filled out their form. Fuck me and fuck your form.
I went to the link, it basically asked me to repeat all of the information they already have for me in their files. I gave them my name, my username and my password and hit 'send'. Then I replied to accountant lady. "I just submitted your form. I will await your receipt. But this serves as final and legal notice that I am no longer interested in your service. If I receive a bill showing any monies owed, I will turn it over to my attorney. "
I don't think I needed to add Kiss My Ass - I think it was pretty much implied.
