It's kind of strange to have a half holiday when you are unemployed. This is what my Kiwi friend, Scott, calls a faux holiday. The money people and the government have off and everyone else is working. Except those of us who aren't.

Lee, the brownie baking neighbor, keeps talking about walking with me. She does training for the postal service so she has today off. I tell her that we walk at 7:45 and if she's not here by 8, I leave without her. And today she showed up! It was very different to walk with someone. She's a good walking companion. She totally gets checking out all the cool stuff you never see if you are in a car - like inside windows and down alleys and stuff. We even found a pink bathtub today. Good fun.

The Home Show is going on at the Exhibition Center next to the stadium. Fran and I are going tomorrow. When I asked if she wanted to go, I suggested Monday or Tuesday without even thinking. She said Tuesday and thankgod. Holiday... Home Show... ugh. Tomorrow will be much better. Lee and I did window peeking at it this morning and it looks crammed with stuff.

As we got back to the condo, I told her about my foam headboard project and she said she wanted to go to Home Depot which is near the foam place so when we finished with the walk, we hopped into the car and off we went. It was nice to have someone to help with the decision - high density or not, 50" long or 45, covering fabric. She did great.

Then home to assemble. Turned out to be way easier a project than I thought and I love it. It is visually interesting, a lot easier than wrestling a bunch of pillows and provides nice padding for leaning against when I read. Even Jake approves although I did have to interupt his nap to change the sheets.

Good headboard. Very industrious and pleasant. Brings a sense of calm to your busy bedding, in a color that can compete with it well.

I am currently playing around witha twin futon and a polartec blanket we had lying around the house. Needs some straightening up to look really good, but is getting there.

Looks very good, I like how it compliments the other colors in your bedding. :)

Should keep you from grabbing that electrical cord and braining yourself with the lamp in your sleep, too. *grin*

Was there yelling and screaming? Was there gunfire? Did you throw Windows XP cds at them like ninja throwing stars? Was there a Susan Dennis wire-fu action sequence? Did you throttle someone with a quilted garrote? Did you take the red pill or the blue pill? What's the capital of North Carolina? What's for dinner? Why do we fall in love? Do dogs go to heaven?

I told you once and I'll say it again. There's a fortune to be made in Kevlar macrame owls. It's time to start looking for venture capital, pronto.

So the crafty person in me (also the person w/o a headboard for her bed) is wondering how you made that nifty headboard.

Can I get details?

I was wondering if you'd attached it to the wall or not - you know - if it's really not that heavy I bet you could attach it to the wall using hook and loop (aka velcro) tape - get a roll and cut strips of it. Staple one side to the foam in addition to the sticky tape stuff (just as added deterrant that it won't fall off) and then attach the mate strip and then remove the paper from the tape and stick it all to the wall.

I've seen them use hook and loop tape on Trading Spaces for stuff like that - there's probably even industrial strength sticky stuff at Home Depot.

We've done some sofa cushions in a similar fashion, except we used safety pins. Maybe this makes it a little easier to remove the fabric for cleaning (and maybe it doesn't).

I LOVE it. They should feature this on one of those home improvement shows.

And of COURSE the cat on the bed really makes this the money shot.

What a creative idea!

You would make those Trading Spaces people jealous. It looks great with the quilt, too!
