Betty: Turns out she's a shadow chasing cat! I've seen these but never had one. She's hilarious. At night, while I'm reading in bed, she stations herself so she can attack the shadows from my reading lamp. I have a plastic bookmark with a tassle that drives her crazy. She chases the shadow like mad and then, once in a while, hops on the bed to see if she can capture the tassle. Soon, however, she realizes that while she's up there with the tassle, there's another shadow down on the floor and she goes after it.

Yesterday afternoon, I was reading and she was chasing. I put the bookmark in the book and left it on the bed. When I got there last night I found that she had not only 'rescued' the bookmark from the book, but had attacked it and pretty much chewed it to death. So, I pulled out my backup tassle bookmark and therein ensued mass confusion. Which bookmark should she chase? What was the difference? Why did one cause a "NO" and the wrinkled, chewed one, allow her to capture and chew even more? Life is such a puzzle.

Pictures: I got tired of my LJ pictures and found some more and then went to the Kodak site to play with them. (Kodak Playground) The default picture du jour is probably the best photo of me ever taken. It was at the Oregon shore taken by an ex-boyfriend about 10 years (and 50 pounds) ago. It feels fraudulent to use the unaltered version but, somehow, I'm ok about using this one.

Website Toys: I was looking through [livejournal.com profile] joyofmacs's friends list and one of her friends had this very cool GuestMap linked to her profile. I fell instantly in love with it and added it to my site and my profile. I'm such a snob about so many web toys and such a sucker for others.

The basketball has started up but I've had to close all the blinds and turn on the air conditioner until the sun gets off my terrace.

Neat toy, but WOW the runtime errors it generated when I was adding my mark to it. Once I'd added it, it generated a couple, then generated more every time I moused over it. Closed and reentered, that was fine, but when I viewed the details on any of them, same thing. :)

Guess IE 6 doesn't like it. *wry grin* Still a nifty toy.

Out of Africa

I think Margaret has also put a pin in your map. Am glad you think it is funny that I wound up in Africa the first time. I like to travel anyway.

The other odd thing about the map, which as a whole is a very cool thing, is that after I used it my cursor turned into a crosshair for quite some time. Eventually it returned to its former pointy self.

I did three things: put a pin on the map, clicked on other pins, read comments, then looked at the list. All of these things worked fine. I didn't do any zooming, though.

I like it enough to be looking into bravenet beyond that map. Thanks!
