Who cut the cord??

susandennisI'm eating my lunch and catching up on LJ Friendliness and I hear this weird muffled beeping. Like some toy is playing with itself in my purse. So I get up to see what it is... Purse? Clear. Kitchen?... The dishwasher - top drawer is beeping and won't stop. So I open it and none of the buttons work. The bottom one - which is a separate unit starts. Beeping - lights flashing. I can't see shit in there. So I went to turn on the light. Wait. The light switch says the light is on... hmmmm The always-on ambient light in the hallway is off. The fish bed light is off.... ok....
Out the front door and the fire doors and closed and the elevators are dead. Houston, we ... we'll you get the picture.
These condos were built with two power grids. I have one that controls the kitchen, bedroom, bathrooms and fish room. And one that controls the living room (computers... and air conditioner... she says a little prayer of thanks), and the hallway. The back one is the one that's out. I can see the building manager frantically going in and out the front door and now there looks to be a fire or police person out there...
Oh well. I am certainly not going to go down for details until the elevator recovers. I think I'm just going to make sure everything is saved on the computers and I know where the flash lights are just in case the front half decides to call it quits.
BUT the good news? When I thought it was just the dishwasher, I looked up the warranty. I got it in March of 2006 and it's a two year warranty. Rock on that!
