It's really amazing how sometimes once I get an idea into this head it is like an itch for which no calamine can help. I gotta scratch. The end. Today's itch was the haircut that I decided I needed about 11 a.m. today.

I called my regular place with whom I have not been so thrilled lately.  The only offerings they had were way way way more money than I wanted to spend.

So...  an itch is an itch.  At 1:15, I got into the car and drove up to Beacon Hill (where my little market and my library is).  I knew there were at least two salons that didn't look too bad right there by everything else.

I stopped at the first one.  Not fancy. Kind of looked like it was undergoing renovations.  But the sign said 'walk ins welcome' so I walked in.  A tiny place.  A nice young man asked if he could help and I said I wanted a hair cut and he said great and asked me to have a seat.  No sooner had my ass hit the chair, a nice young lady came out of somewhere and asked me if I was ready!

I told her I wanted it all off.  All of it.  She said 'shaved bald??!!' and I said, ok, she could leave a covering...

She went to work.   She worked quickly and efficiently and with a minimum of chatter.  Just enough actually.   She and the young guy - both Vietnamese - own the shop and there were two little old ladies sitting around chattering up a storm in Vietnamese.  Remember the Seinfield episode when Elaine goes to the nail place and thinks all the Vietnamese ladies were talking about here (which they were)?  Well, that did not occur to me until Lin (the one doing my hair), out of the blue - I didn't ask - told me they were talking about some river in Vietnam where a lot of people had drowned recently because they didn't know how to swim.  Okdokey.

I was out of there in 45 minutes.  $18  Even though she is obviously an owner, I tipped her anyway.  I liked what she did and how she did it and the speed and the location and I'm pretty darned sure they were going to see both my chins again!  Next time I'm going to get her to get a little frisky - maybe some spikey things in the back and on the sides maybe.
