An ah ha moment
Sep. 5th, 2007 10:04 amSo... I'm thinking about these fucking hot flashes and here's what I'm thinking...
1. My periods stopped completely more than 2 years ago maybe even 3. I wish I could remember for sure but I know it was at least 2. So menopause is not new.
2. I've hated hot weather forever but only developed a severe intolerance of it in the past 10 years (and I'm sure 70% of that intolerance is mental).
3. But, these hot flashes are new. General warming, not new. Flashes new.
So... what else is new? My blood pressure medication! 2 weeks ago, I stopped taking Diovan because it was too expensive and started taking Amlodipine Besylate.
Embedded deep in the lists of possible but very rare side effects is flushing.
Hard evidence aside, I'm jumping to conclusions here. And I'm going to stop taking it. I have some Diovan left. I'm going back to that. I have an appointment with Man Doctor on the 14th. If I'm still flashing, I'll apologize to Amlodipine Besylate. If not, we're going to have a serious discussion about other alternatives and/or I'll just bite the bullet and go back onto the high priced spread.
I feel less victim-ie already!
