susandennisSo I logged onto work to do one simple thing. I did it but then I could not get the internal website to load so I could check and make sure my changes were correct.
There are three steps I go through when I have issues getting onto the corporate network. I check to make sure there are no updates that have to be installed. I check to make sure the proxy box is NOT checked in my connection. I then pick another location for VPN and try that.
I did the first two. Forgot the third. See that big bite in my ass? It's the revenge of the third one. Of course I spent 3 hours with help desk going through all kinds of diagnostics. I reverted back to an earlier working version of the system. I reinstalled updates. I was just before inserting bamboo shoots under my nails when the help desk guy says 'Susan, let me ask you this. Did you try another VPN location?'
I tore him a new one for being 3 hours late on that question and we finally agreed to split the blame.
On the up side it was not a regular work day with 58 people crawling all over me looking for a basciallion work items. But, geesh.
And... all the while... the Mariners are losing yet another game. They aren't even trying to win today.
On the up side, several of the diagnostic tests were long enough to enable me to get my closet shelves all reorganized and a giant bag o' stuff for Goodwill sits at the front door. Can you say multitask?
