I can be such a snob. Lean Hansen who hosts Weekend Edition on NPR is grating on my last nerve. She has been gone for a couple of weeks and I forgot to be grateful. She came back today to remind me. Last week there was an essay by a woman who clearly did not understand computers the way I do who was lambasting the way they operate and generally blaming Microsoft software for being so stupid.
(I do like Microsoft. I have worked there. I appreciate the challenges they face as a company and their products. I fully understand the short comings. Generally Microsoft bashing rolls off my back because most of it is done by people who are smart and sharp and have excellent points. This bitch was stupid and had stupid points.)
BUT, today Lean read the obligatory letter from a Mac user. I knew it was coming when I heard the piece last week. What I hadn't counted on and what tickled me pink was when old Lean read the letter from the guy who uses OS 9. Only she pronounced it Oz9. Can't wait to hear the letters next week!

Lee came to walk and I walked her good. When she first asked about walking with me she wanted to know if I walked too fast or too long and I assured her that I did not. So I kind of took it easy with her the first couple of times. But, the gloves came off today. We wandered around some new blocks and ended up being gone a bit over an hour. A good walk and even she said so. She and Sherry are going to Mexico for a week next Friday so I'll be on my own next weekend.

She told me about a Fillapino (sp?) restaurant not far from here that she and Sherry tried out on Friday. She said the food was excellent and the people were very nice. When they were paying their bill the guy told them that they should come back later for the drag show. Apparently it's a once a month thing there. There was an article in the paper only a week or so ago that the drag 'scene' in Seattle was dying out. I guess this place hasn't gotten the news yet. They aren't having another one until sometime in April but we're going to go check it out. Sounds like fun.

Last night was the first real night of Mardi Gras here in Seattle. My neighborhood has a real love/hate relationship with Mardi Gras. It used to be a huge out-of-control party that went on for four nights. That was until 2001 when it turned into a week of riots ending in the death of a guy. (Which happened the night before the big earthquake.) 2002 saw almost no celebration. 2003 saw a little bit of one. But this year, it seems to be making a real comeback. The mounted police and the walking police and the bike riding police and the car police were all out in force last night. This morning the sidewalks were pretty messy - trash and bottles and cigarette butts and horse poop. But, no big news stories. Oh well, there's always tonight.

I've spent the rest of this morning just screwing around on the computer. Tweaking this, changing that. I upgraded to the latest Semagic, decided I didn't like it as well and went back to my preferred version, lost spellcheck, and spent a good hour trying to get it back. Finally hit the right combo of ini files. Whew. I was going to make some puzzles and upload them but I think I'll do that tomorrow.
Right now I hear Netflix calling...
