The joy of the hunt - a google treasure
Sep. 21st, 2007 12:11 pmMy shower is a tub with a rod that needs a shower curtain. My old one is one that the designer, Sheri, picked out. It is lovely. But, it is dull and I've been on the hunt for a new one for a long time. Finally, I turned to Google and used terms like wild colors and artwork and distinctive with the term "shower curtain". And that's how I found www.showercurtainart.com.
This woman lives and works in Georgia making hand painted shower curtains. How much do I love the internet and google???? How in the world would I ever have been able to find her otherwise?
In an unusual (for me) bit of thoughtfulness, I did not order immediately. The shower curtains are beautiful but I needed to make sure I selected the right one.
I hemmed. I hawed. I picked one and then settled on another. I seriously considered sending her pictures of the house and/or my favorite things and having her make up one especially for me.
In the end, I settled on what actually turns out to be the perfect one. It arrived today.
If you stand on the other side of my bed and look across, this is what you see.
Artwork in my bathroom. It's beautiful. Just beautiful. The artist has this great phrase 'pass me on'. I love that. This is me, passing her on.
Edited later. Initially, I thought these shower curtains were pricey. Keep in mind that I am used to paying $10 at Target or less when they are on sale. But, not only does this one look rich, it feels rich - the beautiful artwork aside. I would not think twice about paying this much for a piece of artwork I love. And I just did!! The artist points out that this curtain will last a lifetime. This, to me, is not so much a feechur. 1st off I'm already past my prime and what if I want another one?? I only have one shower. Maybe I'll treat it like we used to with slip covers in the South... slip covers in Summer, regular covers in Winter. I could get another one for seasonal changes!!
