Who's the looser?
Feb. 24th, 2004 09:58 amSo The Guy Who Owes Me Money is back from vacation and sends me a note last night that he put my check for February in with the 1099's he send. Well, if he did, I missed it tossed it out with the envelope. But, I swear he didn't. I remember thinking at the time that it seemed silly not to put the check in with the 1099's.
But, maybe he did and I did toss it. If I had deposited it, the funds would show in my checking or savings account which they don't. hmmmm
I sent him a note back that I didn't see it in that envelope and don't have it and maybe tossed it. I was very careful not to ask for or even imply that he replace it. I even said 'if I did lose it, it certainly isn't your fault. Thanks for getting back to me.'
But he responded quite quickly asking if he could just pay me double for March. Now I feel guilty. What if I did throw it away? Worse yet, what if I deposited it and am just not finding it in my accounts?
I now have a new system. I have a form with each month to be checked off when the check arrives.
I cannot believe how this whole thing has gotten so messy. At least I'm now hearing from him and he's obviously paying attention and not trying to weasel out of paying.
