Rainy walk

I blew off the walk yesterday so today I was bound and determined. And it was a good thing that I was not ambivalent because today is cold and rainy and the wind is blowing. It was not that much fun. But I made do.

I was rewarded by a sidewalk of ovens. They are renovating a building near here - one that got fairly severely earthquaked and putting in apartments. I noticed today the sign said it would be ready to roll in Spring 2004. And then I spied all of the apartment ovens lined up and ready to go. Made for a fun foto.

There are some more shots at the Buzznet site - click camera but the site seems really sluggish today so you might want to pass on the click if you are in a hurry.

I got nothing much on tap for today but that's ok. As I look at the possibility that this might be one of my last 'vacation' days, I'm way more interested in a few nothing days.

My old cat, Jake, has gotten into some recreational pharmaceuticals from somewhere I think. [livejournal.com profile] fj told me last week that 15 was really old for a tom cat. So I've been thinking he's on his last leg. Then yesterday afternoon he started running. He would start in the living room and then haul ass to the other end of the house and come back. For no good reason.

This is not particularly unusual cat behavior except that Jake is not a fast mover in general. He will work up a trot if he thinks food is involved but that's a trot and before this week that was about as fast as I'd ever seen him move.

This morning, when he would usually be taking his morning nap, he is chasing a balled up piece of paper. He got it cornered and then batted the hell out of it. He just now woke up Betty who is investigating the miracle that his this paper. He is now investigating the irritant that is Betty. It's like he read [livejournal.com profile] fj's comment and is hell bent on proving him wrong.

Good for Jake! I'm no expert, but I've known cats who lived 20 years.

Oh, I've been meaning to ask you...is it Jake or Betty that sits in front of you and watches you knit? I saw one of them on your cam a couple times. How cute!
