The usual this and that
Mar. 7th, 2004 11:58 amI have a bit of a stalker. It's harmless really but annoying. So I finally blocked the email via my spam filtering service. The good things I've gotten out of using Live Journal for my journal so far outweigh the bad. In fact, really, this is the only bad and now it has, hopefully, been taken care of.

When I need to be, I can be tighter with a dime than most anyone you know. I am very fortunate to have a lot of things and to be relatively smart about my money. So when I don't absolutely, positively have to spend it, and I'm in budget watching mode, I am a champion. I do not spend a dime unless it absolutely positively needs to be spent and I can't find the same item or one close to it for a nickel. Since I found out my paycheck was going away, I have been in that mode.
Now that I know there will be a fair bit of cash coming in, I've loosened the strings a bit. I blew $70 at Target yesterday (a bus bag, a small purse, a hair toy, 3 shirts, 4 pair of socks)... I bought food luxuries at the grocery store earlier in the week - $60. I bought two pieces of money tracking software - one for Treo and one for computer - $40 - but these can be business expenses! And then I went on to the truly frivolous stuff. I went onto Half.Com and bought every book currently on my wish list that was available for under $1.00 - at total of 9 and the same on Amazon - 2 - 11 books with shipping came to $35.00.
I think I'm done for now. I don't need to be spending money I don't have yet, but it was fun to get a little crazy.

My walk this morning was pretty uneventful. It was rainy but not raining and not very cold so that was nice. The Krispy Kreme is coming along quite nicely. They have put up the neon Hot Donuts Now signs and finished paving the parking lot.

Doing laundry today and just hanging out. The baseball game is about to start. Tomorrow's game is on ESPN2. I'm going to have to TiVo it because I have a date to meet a friend for lunch right in the middle of the game. Generally, I'm not at all interested in recording baseball games for later viewing but a Spring Training game is different. I really don't care who wins, I just want to see their faces again and hear what's new about them from the announcers. That will work for tomorrow.

Next week, besides the lunch on Monday and another with another friend on Wednesday, I want to make a last weekday trip to Costco and stock up and I really do think I'm going to make a bus dry run to my new work place - maybe Tuesday...

I got the DVD of the 1st season of The Shield from Netflix. I can't remember now why I never watched it real time. I've watched the first two episodes and it looks promising...

I need to update my knitting page today... I think that's going to happen right now.

Date: 2004-03-07 08:12 pm (UTC)YIKES!! If the spam filter doesn't work, send your stalker down to the Federal Building . . turn "Mr. driverslicensemilitaryidorpassport" loose on him! That should take care of that annoyance for good!
