My house is a very very very fine house...

This is one of those posterity entries. In my next life - known as The Great Do Over - I will have done this for each of the places I live. But, I'm a slow starter this time around so this will have to do for now.
This is my condo. If you click on it, you'll get a big version of just the layout. It is basically open. The only to-the-ceiling walls are around the bathrooms. We're looking at 1,244 square feet here. I paid $169,000 in 1992. It is an old railroad warehouse that two women converted into condos. They had just finished when I moved to Seattle and I fell in love with the place the minute I walked in.
My realtor thought I was nuts ('no one lives downtown - that's just silly') and the guy I was dating at the time did his dead level best to convince me that this was the worst decision I could make. ('This neighborhood is dangerous and you'll never get your money out of the place' - last appraisal was $280,000.) I have never once, for a minute, regretted living here.
It is the second most favorite place I've ever lived. (The best house/condo I ever lived in...) It is, by far, the place I've lived the longest. I have no desire to move anywhere else... ever.
I do plan, when I get rich - or when the HGTV sweepstakes, to find a decorator, gut the place and completely redo the insides.

Date: 2004-03-08 03:16 pm (UTC)That entry way is a very useful space - I like your idea of the library... Right now it is a guest room/laundry folding area/sewing room... It makes a good guest room if you are after the kind of room that says 'this room is really only good for one night or two...'
