I have to say that Saturdays are a lot more fun when you are working. I had not talked to Lee since our walk last Sunday so while I had extended the 'walk with me' invitation as an open one, I wasn't sure she got the message. She did.
She was at my door at 7:45 and I was delighted to see her. We agreed that the Route De Jour was south down first avenue to check on the Krispy Kreme progress. And wow. ![]()
We walked all around the building and looked into every window. Sadly, they had probably just washed them all and now they will have to do it again to get our hand prints off! They were making donuts and it smelled so good... One young guy came out and chatted with us. He was so cute and so excited about his new store and he looked very nice in his sharp Krispy Kreme windshirt.
It opens on Tuesday at 5:30 a.m. I'm undecided about whether my virgin trip will be next Saturday morning's walk or if I'm going to pop down there one night after work. Besides donuts they have a wide array of KK swag - I need a t-shirt - they have one especially for this store. And a mug. And donuts.
After crawling all over the new store and documenting, we went on walked way on down and back - probably about 5 miles total and it was fun.
The rest of the day is going to be divided into chores - I have two books and a knitting update to do to the website - I have junk in the kitchen that needs to be picked up - I have laundry ... the rest of the day is going to be just hanging out doing not much of anything.
A perfect Saturday...

Date: 2004-03-20 10:21 am (UTC)I think I mentioned to you before that when the KK opened here in the Valley,...just by chance my Favorite talk show radio hosts appeared there for several hours at the Grand Opening in Van Nuys and as a special treat,
it just happened to be at the corner on the street where I was working!
My boss and I walked over there and enjoyed the free coffee and glazed donuts as well as the live radio broadcast. It had begun at 5:00 AM and the 2 guys were speaking to people in their cars waiting in line that had driven from miles around to get Krispy Kremes!!!
It was a fun morning.
I like the chocolate-iced custard and chocolate-iced cream ones the best.
