No snow here!
Mar. 23rd, 2008 09:38 amMy LJ friends page is full of snow pictures from the UK and Canada. I'm so jealous. Here it is chilly but only because it is also raining.
I gave my plans to replace today's treadmill session with a long walk, a good long thought. I could treadmill tomorrow instead... but, fuck, rain isn't going to hurt me. And lordknows, chilly is sure better than hot. So what the heck.
But first I have to get out of bed. I've read the paper and had coffee and a muffin. Travis is snuggled in here velcro'd to my thigh so not a get out of bed motivator...
My little market on Beacon Hill used to carry these fabulous chocolate chip mini muffins. Two of then were a perfect weekday breakfast. But they have not had them in a long time. A few months ago the same store had, in the frozen section, these fabulous sausage cheese balls. They nuked perfectly and were very delicious. Great with mashed potatoes. And they then they weren't there any more.
So yesterday I went to the market armed with two cards. One for the bakery buyer and one for the frozen food buyer. And I hunted down a manager. The bakery buyer wasn't in but the manager said he'd give her my card and have her call me about the muffins.
The frozen food buyer was adorable. Melissa. She said that she had discovered the same thing about those sausage cheese balls but kept getting her reorder rejected so finally she called and asked and it turns out the little dickens are seasonal! Christmas/New Year. We worked out a plan for next year :)
But, meanwhile I found a box of chocolate chip muffin mix. I got two boxes and made up one yesterday. D. Li. Ci. Ous!!! And very easy to make up quickly. I think I found my answer. I made three different kinds - regular size with muffin papers, regular size without muffin papers and mini. The regular size without muffin papers wins. And I am so glad I got an extra box of the mix. This first batch might not last too long.
Ok one check of the rss feeds and then I'm up and bundled and hitting the streets.
