Semi Annual Whine...
Apr. 7th, 2008 07:55 amIt's pledge time again for my NPR station. Except this time I have a different radio. The bedroom is not near any window in a concrete warehouse building so radio reception is often iffy. But I'm willing to try. First I try the other NPR station. They are having their pledge drive, too BUT it ends on Friday! So I only have a week of annoying. The local classical radio comes in fine! I think I can make it.

We have two morning newspapers in Seattle. When one was afternoon, I had both delivered but when the afternoon paper moved to morning, I dropped it. That was years ago. For several months now I've been considering switching. Finally, an editorial this morning pulled the switch. They have this 'in their own words' feature where they invite people to submit 200 words. Most are thoughtful. Today's was 'Why I hate Starbucks' by someone named Judy Smith. It was very not thoughtful and not even well written. Clearly the editor of the editorial page is no longer with the paper and has not been replaced. I'm done.
So I call to switch. And I get an offshore call center. I know two things. I know my own name and that he is sorry. I have no clue what newspaper will be at my doorstep tomorrow.

If work is slow today, it will be laundry and clean the kitchen floor day. The Mariners game is at 1 p.m. but after yesterday's 9th inning, I'm not looking forward to it.
