Cool turkey
Apr. 8th, 2008 01:55 pmSometime in the mid-80's, Dr. Pepper came out with a diet version and I was hooked immediately. I moved to places where you couldn't get it and special ordered it. In the past 10 or so years, I've done about 2 liter bottle a day or every 2 days. I look for sales but mostly am just glad to find a store that has more than 4 on the shelf (or in the back). I have one grocery store that delivers but even then it's difficult to get a sufficient quantity.
And so I quit. One day last week I just decided to switch to iced tea and I did. I haven't had a drop of the stuff in more than a week. I have 2 2-liter bottles of DDP in the fridge now - unopened. 6 in the armoire in the fish room and 7 or 8 in the trunk of the car. I'll finish those off and then maybe buy a six pack of cans or those short bottles to have every once in a while. I'm thinking maybe a glass a day or less.
It's amazing to me how I can devote myself so slavishly to a habit and then one day just stop. And how I can, nearly as easily, start a new habit.
I think I am an obsessive compulsive with commitment issues.
