Free Time!!!
Jun. 17th, 2008 02:32 pmI actually have time with no work to do!! It won't last long so I'm reveling in it. My RSS reader is so full it might burst. Ditto with Roomba. The kitchen could use a bit of a clean. So I thought I'd use the time to write a mindles LJ entry!
My friend, Ann, who lives down the hall stopped in. Last Sunday, for the first time in more than a year and a half, when I went to the gym, I forgot my keys! So when I got home, I could not get in the door. I thought about hanging out and just waiting for someone to come in or out and piggy back - that was plan b. But first, I tried Ann - she and her husband had been on a trip to eastern Europe but I was pretty sure they were back. They were, and she buzzed me right in.
When I got in here (I rarely lock the door to my unit so it's just the front door to the building that is the problem), I pulled out a little occational card and penned a short thank you note and stuck it in her door.
She stopped by today to say how tickled she was to get the note - 'a very fun thing'. We had a nice, long chat about her trip, building gossip and stuff going on in the 'hood. It was such a luxury to have the time to idly chat!
My project manager will be sending me more stuff to do any minute so I guess I'd better make the most of this window... I think Roomba and the kitchen after I go down and get the mail.
