They read my feedback!
Aug. 12th, 2008 12:25 pmOne of the reasons I picked my dentist in the first place was that they were the only ones I found (back then) who offered sedation and email contact. They have gotten even better using technology than when I first started going there. They send appointment confirmation/reminders. They take your picture with a little web cam so they can remember your face. And they send you a little How Did We Do survey after your appointment.
Last time, I was a little stressed out by the unannounced and not so happy surprises in the visit to get my teeth impressions. So I told them that I would have been happier if I had been told what was going to happen and how long it would take. I explained that much of my dental fear is fear of the unknown.
So today I go in to get the mouth guard. I did not have any idea what to expect. I thought maybe one of the assistants would stick it in my mouth to make sure it fit and that would be it.
Nope. One of the assistants got me all settled in the chair and told me that the doctor would be in soon and then started telling me how to take care of my new mouth guard. Then the dentist came in. He's very cute and very kind and very sweet and today was very concerned about my feedback. He knew exactly what I had written in detail. It was really impressive. I told him I was kind of surprised to learn that anybody even read it but actually I was shocked that he had nearly memorized it.
He was very careful to explain everything. The thing is hard plastic which was a shock. And he put it in and then took it out and drilled on it a while and then put it in and then took it out and drilled on it a while... over and over again very patiently. It was exceedingly odd to hear the sound of the drill in my ear but not have it in my mouth. Very strange.
Finally he got it set right and told me to give it a couple of weeks to get used to it and if I had any teeny tiny little problem to call him immediately.
It was a good visit. They tried to get me to sign up for a cleaning and I used Ann's new knee as my excuse again assuring them that it would be a long, long, long time before she was healed.
Home now with work to do!
