New find and misc ramblings

susandennisSeattle has been added to EveryBlock and, boy, is it ever fun! You plug in your zip code (98104 for me) or neighborhood and read all about it. Seattle does not have much yet but if you look at some of the cities that have been on the site for a while (like Charlotte) you can see all the cool stuff they will have.
(I found a real estate listing for the condo I bought in downtown Charlotte when I left my husband. It still looks sweet and is amazingly cheap. It was spankin' new when I bought it and I think I broke even on the buy way back when.)
I set up a feed for my zip code and for a couple of other nearby neighborhoods. I'm digging this muchly. I truly heart the internets.

It is cooling off in here today and it's lovely outside. I might even trot across the street to the deli for lunch later. I have a looooooooooong conf call at 1 so it might be smart to get some fortification.

My second to latest Western Digital RAID drive died last night. The 4th dead backup drive. This morning I got a request to fill out a Western Digital satisfaction survey. Their drives AND their timing suck. My spare and final WD drive is now in the RAID array. Seagate is next. This is just ridiculous.

I'm still wearing in my new work laptop. It is not yet used to the way we roll here. It's trying but I forget how long XP takes to get the lay of the land. I probably would have been smarter to get Vista. But, the guy at work who does our IT support hates Vista so much that I knew I'd be sunk the first time I had to have him help. My boss has and loves Vista on his machine but he's the boss. I'm only the eye candy. XP will figure it out soon enough. Happily work isn't killer right now so we have time.
