Aug. 30th, 2008 01:21 pmHoley Moley - my faux gym was totally packed!
First of all there is a football game in the stadium between Washington State University and Oklahoma State University. Now, Washington State is located east of here across the mountains. Oklahoma State is locate VERY east of here across mountains, plains and Mormons. However, but there were just as many Orange (OSU) people as Red (WSU) on the streets. I was amazed. Finally I snagged an orange guy and interrogated him. I wanted to know if the Seattle area was rife with Okies - according to him, no. He flew in and said that the plane was full of his kind. Wild.
To the market was relatively cool but really full of people. The market itself was barely standing room only. If you weren't there, you were one of the few. It was packed to the gills. You could barely see the backs of the heads of the people who were watching the backs of the heads of the people who could just barely see the backs of the heads of the people watching the flying fish!!
I ducked out of the madness to get some pictures of the gum wall for
machupicchu who missed it recently. I first found it years ago when it was a small piece of what it has become. It even has it's own marquee!
The gum wall is a brick wall where people have stuck their chewed gum, seriously.
It's actually several walls now - here's some of the newest section so you can see what it used to look like...
And I twittered this from my phone so I would not forget it....
In the elevator going from the waterfront up to the market, a young woman and her friend got in:
1st: Have you talked to Chris?
2nd: Well, I haven't lip-talked to her today yet.
Love that. Lip-talked. Wonder what the opposite of that is? What's the one word for email/text/voicemail, etc? Or is voicemail technically lip-talk? hmmmm
