I am (very nearly) speechless.
Sep. 18th, 2008 02:01 pmI have written about my excellent experiences with 3GStore.com. Before I bought my aircard/evdo/cell modem from them, I studied up. I read store reviews. So I was expecting good before I even go there. I got good and then I got better.
Even when their solution didn't work and it turned into a major pain in the ass and finally I had to get an RMA and call Sprint to cancel and reorder a different kind of modem, it was a hassle but things happen and I felt like 3GStore did everything they could have and more.
I was kind of bummed that the replacement modem was more than twice as expensive as the original. But, as Scott the sales guy pointed out "If it ends up working like we think it will, that $50 will be worth it, don't you think?" Absolutely. (First modem was $70 with $50 mail in rebate. Second modem was $130 with 550 mail in rebate.)
Just now the phone rang. It was a nice lady from 3GStore.com. She wanted to let me know that the new modem just went on special today and since mine was shipped out today, they were going to give me the special price. She apologized that they had already charged my credit card so it would have to be an added credit but they would see that the credit go to my card asap.
Get this.
New price of modem is $.01. Yes, folks, that one cent. PLUS the $50.00 rebate from Sprint still applies. SOOOO I will have a net gain of $49.99!
I told her that I was not sure how much more impressed I could get with 3GStore.com but I'd sure try. holy moly.
Now I just hope against hope that the thing works in this stupid computer. I have googled my fingers bloody trying to find one instance of anyone out there in internetville who discusses Tecra laptops using any EVDO modem - successfully or unsuccessfully. The tech guy from yesterday said that while he'd never run into a problem as severe as mine, he had nearly hit the wall several times with Toshibas. I guess I'll just keep my fingers crossed until next week.
Regardless of what happens, I do not ever remember being so delighted with any store in my life. I need to get a 3GStore.com t-shirt so I can be a walking advertisement for them. Really.
