I've been sleeping too late. Or more like just not getting up early enough. My alarm goes off at 6 but rarely is there any compelling reason for me to hop out of bed so I don't. Lately, I have not even been turning on the light until about 7:30. I'm wasting hours. (I fall asleep at 11:15 every night regardless so I can't really make up the hours at the end of the day.)

So the new rule is lights on, coffee gotten and newspaper reading commenced no later than 6:30.

Monday's are my day off from the gym so this morning Travis and I got to spend the extra hour playing. I played computer games while he played with the toy he only gets to play with when he starts chewing the newspaper. Good times.

I'm considering a minor change in the living room configuration. I have a tall chest that I think needs to be moved to the niche by the fireplace. But that leads to a daisy chain affair of finding a home for the plant that can't decide if it's dying or not and the ugly presto logs currently hiding under a table cloth and the table. It needs some more thinking I think.

One of the few down sides to my job is that I never know what's coming. I mean really, usually, I have not one single idea. As I sit here right now, I'm pretty sure I will have about .75 hours of stuff that I know about coming this week. The rest of the time could be nothing or it could be 80 hours worth. I have no clue. Makes it difficult to plan.

I'd kind of like to take one day this week and go on a little mini adventure I have been thinking about. It is likely that there is at least one day this week that that will be easily done as the workload will be very light. If it were important, I could just tell the powers that assign my time that I will not be available but in general, I like to think that one of my values as an employee is that I am always available. I could take a vacation day, but I hate to do that for mostly the same reason.

So I kind of take it hour by hour. And I keep a little list of things (that take less than an hour) that I need to do so when the runway is clear, I can cherry pick off the list.

Mostly this really suits me perfectly. I remember when I used to have to go to someplace for work. Many times I found myself in jobs without enough to do. I would spend hours killing time trying to look productive. The last job I had doing this, I worked for a guy who was in the same position. He didn't have enough to do either. I'd beg for work and he'd bogart all the stuff that came in cause he was the boss. We were a pair.

At least here when I don't have anything to do, I am free to do what I want to do. That part is very nice. And well worth it all.

Travis has a bug or something in lock down on the terrace. He's been madly stalking whatever it is for an hour. Now he is by the window and Betty is on patrol, also stalking. They are cracking me up.
