My abandonment issues of yesterday are all resolved. Black Guy with Cooler and Russian Lady were both on the bus this morning along with the other regulars - Long Braid Guy and Chef Woman. It was nice to have everyone accounted for.

And, it turns out, Jason went to Germany for the weekend (without telling me?!?!). But, he's back, too, with tales to tell.

One of his tales is about a McClean. Apparently these are outfits where you can pay money and get clean toilets and/or showers. It reminded me about the $6,000 self cleaning toilets that Seattle bought from Germany and installed around town. I went to find a link about them and learned that Washington State has a law against charging money for using toilets. I'm guessing that this law stems from when you had to pay to pee if you were a woman. Men have always been able to stream for free. But, in the olden days, women had to pony up to get the stall door to open. Hard to believe now. I don't remember seeing any pay toilets after about the mid 70's.

My email is currently clogged somehwere. I think it's probably at the spam filtering service. While their customer service (answering emails) generally sucks, they usually do fix any problem fairly promptly so I'm hopeful that as soon as they wake up (they are on the west coast) they will get right on it.

I just picked up the receiver on my phone here at work and discovered the thing is dead. It actually has worked because my boss had called me once or twice. But I hate it when it rings. No one needs to be calling me here. I have my cellphone if I need to call out. So I've decided against CPR. If it wants to be dead, let it be dead.

I thought I was the only one that didn't give out the work phone number. People inside the company can call it if they like (the message light is on and I don't know the mailbox code), but I don't encourage it. Most of the people I need to talk to here use cell phones to contact each other.

Do you ever play the bus game of looking at strangers on the bus, and trying to guess at which stop they will get off? For the regulars, this is too easy (I still remember that the Lady with the Pretty Dog got off at Caslano); but for strangers, it can be fun. In Switzerland, I was able to score pretty well. Here in Boston, it seems much more challenging.

The best thing to happen to me at work is that my phone is fried. Can't answer at least one line and can't use the intercom. Our offices are moving, so they aren't fixing it. I don't care if I never have a phone. Email me!!
