Technology Tidbits
May. 17th, 2004 10:12 amThere is a new LJ archive tool out that is the best by far that I've seen. You can search your entire journal and export it out to HTML, XML, PDF - by years, if you like. And, it's blindingly fast. Erik Frey's lj Archive. I've been hanging on to an old copy of Semagic because it let me get a copy of my journal into HTML. But, it meant either using a way back level of Semagic or installing and reinstalling different versions. lj Archive solves that problem. This is very easy. Very fast and very much better.

PalmOne issued an upgrade to my Treo so now I can make movies with sound on it. It's an amazing gadget. However, while I've never had any huge beef with Sprint, I was a shade annoyed this morning to find a voice mail message - first time I'd seen it - from Friday. Not too handy, that.

I've been jonesin' for a new remote control. For the longest time, I've wanted one that I can program through the PC. The ones that have been on the market have been huge and cumbersome to hold in your hand and outrageously expensive. Now they are getting pretty and nice to hold in your hand and not as outrageously expensive but still too much money for someone who might not have a job in six weeks. Harmony makes the really really sexy ones. And now they are offering free shipping and 30 days no hassle return. Those skunks. But I think I can resist. I really think I can.
