Does it have to be so difficult???
Jun. 8th, 2004 06:06 pmMom's Norton Anti-Virus subscription expires this month. I've re-subscribed in the past over VPN with no problems. Those days, as it turns out, are way over. After several tries and much pain, I finally figured out that we can no longer resubscribe that now she has to upgrade. Ok, but is that easy? NO. The Symantec website doesn't like her credit card number. I won't even go into the next painful steps.
Finally I ordered 2004 from another vendor and am having it mailed to her. I'll then hire someone to go install it or walk her through it. I need this shit after a 10 hour day fighting the software at work. GRRRR
Oh and then I get home and according to the local evening news, I have ovarian cancer. I have all of the symptoms they listed. They didn't mention how much time I have left. Hope it's enough to get Mom protected against computer viruses for at least another year.
And, Roger Clemens is pitching against the Mariners. Last year, every time we got close to him, we had to hear all about how it was going to be his last time pitching in this ballpark, last time pitching in in that ballpark, last time pitching against the Mariners, last time pitching in this pair of underpants. I was SICK of it. Then the sonofabitch didn't even retire.
So, tonight we go through it all again.
And, while I'm bitching and moaning, I would just like to say, for the record, not everyone thought he was our most beloved and revered president and I'm really tired of hearing that everyone did.

Date: 2004-06-08 06:18 pm (UTC)Every president that will die from now until the demise of the US will be seen as "the most beloved" hell when Nixon died they said "well, he wasn't that bad". It is natural, for not wanting to be disrespectful.
I just watch DVDs and watch HBO all week. ;)

Date: 2004-06-09 07:40 am (UTC)There are one or two clip art places that have a good selection. Mostly now my collection is from here there and everywhere. But, I think I can find you a couple of good places. Right now my internet connection sucks but as soon as it heals, I'll get on it.
Hopefully it will be before the dying thing happens.

Date: 2004-06-09 08:02 am (UTC)On the other hand, this particular president could at least squeeze out more than three words at a go, so he wasn't endlessly tiring to listen to.
Then again he was responsible for the crackdown on the college protests, didn't that end in soldiers shooting students? Sorry I was a long long way away at the time and had troubles of my own, like learning to read and write properly (still trying).
Anyway, when I was in Britain recently they referred to this sort of thing as Recreational Mourning.

Date: 2004-06-09 08:23 am (UTC)Tricky Dick Nixon was the Kent State Shooting president. Regan would have never dirtied his hands with guns. He was more the let them eat cake guy. If you ignore AIDS it won't kill anybody important. They guy's best co-star was a freakin' monkey...
