1. I spent way too much time last night putting my things back where they were, straightening rugs, wiping missed surfaces and redoing stuff the cleaners fucked up. I had sent a note yesterday just after I got home. So last night I decided that if the response was fast and appropriate - money back, appalled and swear it will never happen again or some eqavalent, I'd give 'em another chance.

He did respond quickly. But his response was 'sorry, things happen - I'll put your email into your file so they will know better next time.' Sorry, Charley, not good enough. I'm not going to channel The Donald here. But I did send him a reply that asked him to mail my keys back to me please. I got two words back "will do". I made the right decision on this one...

And on with the Housecleaner hunt.

B. Generally when I order something or register something I use my hotmail account so it ends up with a bunch o' junk. I monitor my hotmail account via Outlook Express so it's quite easy just to delete the junk and I don't stress over it.

Yesterday, as I was deleting junk, I came across an email from Astraware. It was a newsletter about Pocket PC software (games). I haven't had a Pocket PC in a year or two but I still get a lot of PocketPC mail. Anyway, it gave me pause because it was particularly well written - no HTML - no fancy stuff - just the facts laid out clearly with the appropriate links. And at the end, it said "If you have any comments... ... just reply and let us know. We read all of the replies!"

I went to their website to see how to get their Palm newsletter instead of PocketPC and I couldn't find anything. So I sent a reply. Explaining that I couldn't find their website subscription changer. I got back a very nice, friendly note in minutes explaining why they didn't have one (basically, it's under developement). He offered to switch me to the Palm version.

I sent a note back saying that I really should just ask him to take my name off the list but, they had a new puzzle game - Candy Cruncher - which looked like fun and so yes, I'd probably better have the Palm version of the newsletter, thank you.

This morning I get another note from this same guy saying that he looked at my records and discovered that I had purchased (way way back) a version of Bejeweled for PocketPC (and one for Palm) and that since they are happy to switch registrations across platforms, I had essentially two registrations for the same game so would I mind if he just transferred one of them to Candy Cruncher?
