Jeopardy

I am a Jeopardy superstar. I'm perfect at this game - especially when it's just me and the TV without anyone around to hear my wrong answers distract me. But, I really don't watch every day. I Tivo it but often just delete it without watching or check the contestants at the beginnig for interesting ones and if none, delete. So I really end up watching just once in a while actually.

Until this past couple of weeks. I caught it one night when there was this really cute (cute in more of a pet way than in a hot way) little guy - Ken Jennings, Software Engineer from Salt Lake City - who won. When a winner is fun, I tend to watch every day until he/she is gone. Well, old Ken has kept me glued now for 16 days and he's soaked them for more than a half million dollars. He rocks and he has a great personality and is fun to watch.

Mom is complaining that he talks to fast (this is a timed game, Mom) and the camera never shows his lips so she can't understand his answers - whine, whine, whine - go watch Meredith Vieira and her silly Millionaires and leave my fun Ken alone.

I'm sure he'll crash and burn at some point but, until then, color me glued. I'll take Cute Software Engineer for a Million, Alex.

I love Jeopardy, too. Have you seen Letterman lately? He's been making fun of Ken. He says he thinks the game is rigged. And to prove it, he shows a clip of Alex giving the answer, and then Ken responding with a totally unrelated question. Then Letterman turns to the audience and says, "Doesn't that seem wrong to you?" It's a funny segment.

Can Mom turn on the ... uh ... sheesh the name just flew outta my head ... the thing where the words appear at the bottom of the screen?

Senior moment??!! Closed Caption... And that is a brilliant idea. Or it would be except... Here's how it would go...

Me: You know, we could turn the words on at the bottom of the screen so you could read them while you hear them.
Mom: You mean that thing for deaf people?
Me: Yeah! That way it wouldn't matter if they talked fast or the camera wasn't on their faces.
Mom: That's for deaf people. I'm not deaf. If they would talk clearly and not mumble and the camera people did it right, it would be fine.
Me: Ok, but think about it.
Mom: What? Quit mumbling.

OHmygod! I love that! I was so impressed with her. She and I were the only ones who knew that final Jeopardy answer. Thank you so much for the link. As soon as LJ gets better, I'll leave her a comment.
