I love back to school
Aug. 25th, 2009 10:07 amI love this time of year.
I love school supplies - the paper and pencils and backpacks. I seriously do.
I love that kids will be back in school so I can go to the zoo and aquarium.
But probably most of all, I love that I do not have to go back to school. It's been 39 years since I was forced to participate in literally going back to school and I can remember the dread as if it were yesterday. When I was 5, all I wanted to do was go to school. I remember my Mom finally took me to the dime store and bought me a book bag so I could practice for the next year.
But, once I set foot in the joint, it was pure hatred. I am sure I would have liked it better had I been better at it but I sucked. I did some stuff well. I was good at math and diagramming sentences. I was a terrible speller, I hated History and current Events and French and memorizing line after line of anything. I didn't even like naps.
So this begins my 39th year of reveling in the knowledge that I never ever ever have to go to school again. I loved in in 1971 and I love it just as much today. Thankyoujesus!
