Waiting...
Jul. 3rd, 2004 08:59 amThe new new housecleaner said he would be here between 8 and 9. Of course, he also said he would be here Monday but then, late yesterday, said today was better for him. Fine. It's now 8:56. Why do I think he's not going to work out any better than the last one?
Sigh. I'm trying to keep an open mind but it's not easy. He said he thinks it will take about 6 hours to clean and he wants me here the whole time to show him the ropes. If I knew the ropes or wanted to know the ropes, I wouldn't need you, buddy. We'll see. I think I will likely duck out and go make a run to the GoodWill and maybe to the drug store/grocery store. I need to get more Puffs tissues. This cold has wiped me out. Pun intended.
It is decidedly better today - the cold. I'm still about a week away, I think, from no cold at all but the rest is just clean up. If I can avoid the can't breathe or sleep cough, I'll be happy. So far, so good.
It's actually cool enough that I could have walked this morning but I slept too late and wanted to enjoy my coffee and newspaper before cleaning boy showed up. Turns out I had plenty of time but I didn't know that then.

Date: 2004-07-03 09:34 am (UTC)Have you tried Merry Maids? I used them when I owned a busy CPA practice, and they were great. A little more expensive than the others, but it was worth it to me. They showed up every other Thursday like clockwork. Two of them at a time, one was a supervisor. They were extremely thorough and FAST. I liked the fast part. Since they were a franchise, they always had staff available; a very large pool of employees (of course, none of them spoke English). They're also bonded.
