Sep. 14th, 2009 05:35 pmI was pleasantly surprised at Dr. Oz's first show. I expected it to suck and it did not. Nice. The Doctor's Show (is that still on?) always pissed me off. Dr. Oz had stuff I didn't know and was not obnoxious.

I got a letter today from Comcast that they are going basically digital on October 26. But, I think it's going to be a non-issue for me. Hopefully. There won't be any change to channels 1-29. So I'll dedicate one of my TiVo's to those shows and the other one can handle the channels above 20. They both have two tuners so I should be ok plus if I get squeezed, I can use the DVD player that has very basic TiVo function. And if all that fails, I can get a cable card for the TiVo that doesn't have one. But that will mean more money to Comcast and I'd like to avoid that.

We're heading into the 3 weeks every year that cause me the most TV scheduling headaches. The new shows start before baseball finishes. Happily, the first week of this, our baseball games start at 4 since we're playing on the east coast so that helps some. It's always a tight squeeze and this year's no different.

I am looking forward to returning shows and some of the new ones. The pickins get slimmer every year and this year, since I'm not a Leno fan, one whole network quits early for me.
